Sleeping in Nature... 5/23

sawyer359

Moral of the story, today I slept…. A lot! I didn’t really feel good today. From the rain to my allergies, but I tried to make the best out of it even though I didn’t really do a good job

at it.

Today we went to carriage hill farm. It was really wet most of the morning so we weren’t able to leave on time but it was fun waiting till we got to get on the bus. Before we left we had to write a narrative in the perspective of something that you would find at a farm of some kind. I wrote about a bucket, I’m not really sure why I chose to do a bucket, but I think it turned out pretty good.

The bus ride seemed to take forever so that was nap number one. I put my earbuds in and the next thing I knew I was asleep. Lizzie woke me when we got there, it was still raining but not as hard. We split off into groups and just started venturing through the farm. We got to pet donkeys, horses, pigs, and sheep. They were all wet though so it was kind of gross even though being on a farm with animals is something that I love very much.

Quick funny story that isn’t that funny… I have a small bag that I keep in my backpack that has like all the needs of a teenage girl in it. So once everyone was done petting the animals and running around they came up and got hand sanitizer and then I ended up being the “mom” because I had the needs of everyone.

We spent quite a bit of time trying to find the grave yard that we weren’t having very much success at finding, but then we finally did and it was much smaller than anyone expected. I think we had playing in the creek and on the bridge coming back. I stayed on the bridge because I didn’t want to get my feet wet. So then again I was called the “mom” because I stayed out to take pictures. We then headed over for lunch. Nap number 2 and three. After we were done eating we just hung back and chilled around I took my friends hat to keep the sun out of my eyes and put my head down on the table and the next thing I knew I was out. To me it was so peaceful being out in the sun and hearing all the noises even if it was people screaming.

Then I was woken up… I sat around and chatted for a little bit spent some time figuring out where everyone was and what they were up to. I went over and layed down on a bunch because it was sunnier and it was a place to lay down. I woke up with a sun burn on my arm but oh well it was worth it. So as I said today was filled with a lot of naps. To me that was the peace of my day through everything that was going on. The sunshine after the rain felt really nice and I was still with my people.

I sit out by the fire each and every day waiting to be used. I feel like I get used every so often but I don’t know if that’s a good thing or not. When the kids all crowed around the fire pit at camp I get all happy but a tad bit scared. What’s going to happen I think. But just because they are over by me doesn’t mean they are going to fill me up. One night everyone came around and started singing songs, there was no fire yet but someone picked me up and took me to the hose. I started to feel cold and a little heavier. It feels good through all the warm weather we have been having. I’m here, and to me I really hope that I don’t have to randomly dumped out because that could mean someone is hurt or the fire is out of control. Sitting there full I finally feel like I am needed and not just there to be looked at. Then the time comes where I have to be dumped out because everyone is leaving for the night. I feel a little empty inside and a little useless. I come to realize though, we all need a break at some point and someone will come back and use me for good again.
